Urban Bloom Gardening is a small gardening business looking after private gardens across Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich, Lambeth and Bromley.

We garden with nature, not against it. No chemicals, organic fertilisers, peat free compost, wildlife friendly planting, and pruning the right plant at the right time so our clients get more blooms year after year. Our customers do not want a blitz and go. They want a garden that gets better every visit.

That only works with experienced gardeners who actually know plants. If you can walk into a garden and tell what needs pruning now and what needs leaving until spring, you are the kind of person we want to hear from.

Experienced Gardener

Run your own garden maintenance and clearance sessions across South East London. Self employed or a zero hours contract, whichever suits you. You need real plant knowledge, a full driving licence and your own vehicle.

What The Work Is Actually Like

Most gardening work in London is volume: turn up, strim it, blow it, leave. That is not what we sell, so it is not what you would be doing.

Real horticulture. Pruning the right plant at the right time, not everything back to the same height in August.
No chemicals. Organic fertilisers, peat free compost, planting that brings wildlife back.
Gardens across South East London, so no long drives out to the edge of the M25.
Flexible work that fits around an existing round, or regular hours if you want them.
The chance to pick up more hours and grow into Head Gardener.
You leave every garden tidier than you found it. That is the one promise we make to every client.

Who fits

What We Look For

We care much more about what you can do in a garden than what is written on a certificate. Plenty of the best gardeners we know came up through an allotment, a parks job or twenty years of their own patch rather than a college course.

You can identify common garden plants and you know when to prune what.
You can work on your own and talk to clients directly without it being hard work.
You turn up when you said you would, in most weather.
You would rather do a job properly than quickly.
You have a full driving licence and your own vehicle to get to gardens across South East London.

Formal qualifications are welcome but not required. Years of doing the work properly count for more.
